Life Saving Victoria - Membership and Leadership Development Council (MLDC)
As part of Life Saving Victoria’s governance reforms, over the coming months, Council Executives will progressively transition to their new Council structures, including the appointment of Council Leadership Teams (CLT).
- Strategic Lead - Development and Capability (2-yr term)
- Strategic Lead - Early Engagement (Nippers) (2-yr term)
- Strategic Lead - Inclusion and Diversity (initial 1-yr term)
- Strategic Lead - Member Health and Wellbeing (initial 1-yr term)
- Strategic Lead - Member Pathways (initial 1-yr term)
Please note: These positions are elected by MLDC delegates.
The primary role of the Membership and Leadership Development Council (MLDC) is to foster inclusive participation and create pathway opportunities for members of all ages and stages, with a particular focus on young people. This includes facilitating and coordinating the development and implementation of member engagement, leadership and capability initiatives that strengthen participation across Life Saving Victoria’s programs.
The MLDC provides a structured forum for affiliated clubs and industry stakeholders to act as a conduit for the sharing of information between members, management, specialist advisors, and the LSV Board.

LSV's Governance team will coordinate the following fitness, propriety, and suitability checks to ensure nominees are in good standing:
- Financial membership confirmation,
- Working With Children Check,
- LSV/SLSA Member Protection/Integrity check, and
- Media check.
Nominees may also be subject to a National Police Check.
Where roles require specific qualification pre-requisites, the Governance team will coordinate this with the relevant LSV Department.

Life Saving Victoria (LSV) operates within a structured governance and operational framework, which includes defined reporting lines, role accountabilities and, for some functions, command and control arrangements.
To support effective decision‑making, manage real or perceived conflicts of interest, promote psychological safety, and maintain clear role authority and accountability, some roles within LSV may not be able to be held concurrently with other roles.
Accordingly, appointment to certain roles may limit an individual’s ability to hold, apply for, or continue in other roles within LSV or associated LSV structures. Any such limitations will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis, having regard to the nature of the roles, reporting relationships and operational context.
The determination of role compatibility and eligibility is made at the discretion of Life Saving Victoria, in accordance with its policies, governance obligations and risk management considerations.
